Those of you who know me, know that I like positive and thought provoking quotes. I collect them, print them out and put them into a binder. You can find these quotes anywhere, the internet, Oprah TV, magazines, you hear them on the radio, there are lots of them in the Bible. When I am frustrated, or I just need to regroup, I pull out the binder and read through the quotes. As I do this usually one or two stand out and give me something to ponder, or better yet, put me into a better frame of mind. I keep wondering what it is about these quotes that makes me not only want to keep them, but keep going back to them. Why is it that I need to have them available? On any given day, I find, that it is easy to focus on the negative. Does it take any less energy to focus on the negative? I don't think so, in fact it actually drains me of my energy sometimes. So I keep going to the quotes to redirect my thinking and to help inspire me. When I am looking for inspiration, I am choosing my path, and given a choice I will try to choose the positive and energizing path. Am I always successful in this endeavor? No, I worry -a lot, and I feel frustrated when I do not have control over a situation, I over think things and then over think them again. When I do this someone or something usually reminds me that this way of thinking is not to my advantage. Have I also mentioned that I hate being told what to do...! I know that I am not perfect, but that knowledge is the starting point for me to build up from. It is the bottom step on my climb up to the life that God has given me to live. And what a life it can be as long as I choose to follow the words of this old song.... You've got to accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between You've got to spread joy up to the maximum Bring gloom down to the minimum Have faith or pandemonium Liable to walk upon the scene To illustrate his last remark Jonah in the whale, Noah in the ark What did they do Just when everything looked so dark Man, they said we better Accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In-Between No, do not mess with Mister In-Between Do you hear me, hmm? Blessings, and to quote Glorie Abelhas, "Good fortune shies away from gloom. Keep your spirits up. Good things will come to you and you will come to good things!"
