Today's verse: Philippians 4:8 "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." (NLT)
As I got up today and looked out the window, I saw an overcast sky and a light dusting of snow. My first thoughts are “Seriously! When is this yucky winter going to end?!” I am tired of cold and overcast days. I want spring, warm days, sun, bright colorful flowers and light rains. This weather sucks! I can’t take it anymore! Poor pitiful me!
I turned from the window and started getting on with my tasks for the day. I have to admit, I was not in a good frame of mind. I started to feel stressed. All of a sudden, a favorite and fun song came on. A little gift from Pandora (did she have divine inspiration?). I stopped and realized in this moment, right here and right now, I had the choice on how my day was going to be. Was it going to be dark, and cloudy like the day outside or would I choose to look for the positive. Search out the good in the day. Take time throughout the day to thank God that I am alive with a loving family, safe, food to eat, a nice roof over my head.
What will you choose today and for the days moving forward? Do you want to focus on the darkness and sadness or will you join me and no matter how small, look for the light in every minute of your day.
