Preparing for the Journey

Updated: Apr 7, 2022

My family loves to camp. Through the years we have learned the importance of being prepared when we go camping. Forgotten rain ponchos, bug spray or water can make life a little tough. We need to plan and prepare for the longer car rides, make sure that we have everything we need to live in our tents or camper and have the necessary items to enjoy our hikes and biking. We not only need clothes, food, water, and a medical kit, we have a long list of supplies that we take each trip. We make sure our vehicle is ready for the long drive, plan our route, check the weather, and now check Covid numbers and local protocols. The more prepared we are the more enjoyable the journey.

In our lives it is crucial to prepare for the future. This preparation can mean financial planning, medical coverage, buying a place to live or a car to take us places. Who ever thought that buying and stocking toilet paper, paper towels and disinfectant are important in preparing for the future! We also need to prepare for change. Changes is inevitable and can sometimes be easier if we keep open minds and try to prepare for it.

Self-care is very important in preparing for the long haul. Keeping a healthy mind, body, and spirit are essential steps on our path in life. Self-care not only gets us through our daily stresses, it also prepares us for physical and mental changes and challenges as we age. Self-care is something a lot of us need to be more mindful of.

How are you preparing for the long haul?

We would love to hear what you have prepared for this wondrous life that we have received. Preparation is the first step in the journey.
