Got Worship?

Updated: Apr 7, 2022

Today's Verse: Romans 12:1-2 (MSG)

Place Your Life Before God

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.”

What is worship for you? When and how do you worship? How does God respond to your worship?

Worship can be a church service on Sunday with song, fellowship and the Word. Worship can also be a time of stillness and meditation. I feel worship is a daily living process that is always changing as seasons come and go. It is a time for us to honor, dedicate to, discover and explore our God.

Webster’s Dictionary definition is: Worship is to honor with extravagant love and extreme submission. Wow, the words extravagant and extreme really pop out to me. Do I honor God with extravagant love and extreme submission? I have to ponder long and hard on that statement. I will let you know when I get that figured out!

Plutarch say that “The worship most acceptable to God comes from a thankful and cheerful heart.” Maybe, true worship is experiencing the presence of God in all that we do. Worship is making God THE priority in our everyday lives. I love the simplicity in Louie Giglio’s definition, “Worship is simply giving God His breath back.”

Here are some other views on worship for you to ponder:

“God doesn’t call us to worship because he wants to see a good and perfect show. He wants US, wholly, and humbly praising His glory with all of our heart, mind and soul”. - Bri Lamm

“Work becomes worship when you dedicate it to God and perform it with an awareness of his presence.” —Rick Warren

“An authentic life is the most personal form of worship. Everyday life has become my prayer.” Sarah Ban Breathnach author of of Simple Abundance (another book that I enjoyed)

So this is what I am truly asking you, How will you choose to worship today?

Peace
