A Caring Lent - Week 4

Updated: Apr 7, 2022

My how time flies when the events of the world are spinning around us! We are now in the 4th week of our A Caring Lent series. There are only 21 days until Easter. We are halfway through the 40 days of Lent. I pray that you are able to use the season of Lent and all that it offers as a light in your life.

March 16th invited us to practice deep breathing throughout the day. Stopping to take a deep breath, and making sure to fill our lungs and let it out slowly. It is a quick and easy way to let out all of the tightness in our bodies. The air that gives us life can also be used to help us refocus, release and re-energize.

March 17 asked us to take a walk and pick up any trash you find. In Illinois we have a "shelter at home" order until April 7th. We can still get out and take a walk. I have been doing this every day. I am enjoying the time alone in the crisp fresh air. I will say I am amazed at how much garbage there is around to pick up.

March 18th we were invite to pray for someone special today. It was hard for me to choose just one, so I chose a few and spread the prayers throughout the day. When I lift those I care about up in prayer, I feel closer and more connected to them.

March 19 was the day to clean out our books and magazines and donate them. My husband made a run to Goodwill with our books and was surprised at all of the people using the time to donate items (this was just before the "shelter at home" order). I enjoyed the feeling that I got "something" done around our house.

March 20th brought the invitation to send a card to someone who is going through a difficult time. Wow, the question became how many cards should I send out! I felt so good taking the time and finding the words to show care to those in my life.

March 21 invited us to write down five things that you are grateful for. I never ever thought that I would put down toilet paper on a grateful list, but I did this week! My list (which I keep daily) changed in it's perspective due to all that is happening in my life. It is surprising what we can find to be grateful for!!

What are you grateful for? Where have you found peace and joy this week?

Blessings and hope,
